From the First World War diary of Trooper Frank Edwards, 1st Australian Light Horse Regiment, written in the trenches at Quinn’s Post, Gallipoli:

1915

24 May

In dug-outs all day, went for a swim in afternoon, stand to arms to 3.30 in the morning.

Came back to dug-out at 7.
Went for a swim at midday.
Stand to arms all the afternoon.
Slept in equipment all night.
Stand to arms at 3.30 a.m.

Went sapping at 2 a.m., off again at 7 a.m.

*This is the last entry made by Trooper Frank Edwards. On 29th May 1915 an entry is made by an officer of the A.L.H. which reads as follows:

"Trooper Edwards fell a true soldier just after dawn, charging our front line of trenches on Quinn's Post which had been taken by the Turks, and which his efforts assisted to retake."
